Accra, Ghana Shaken by 4.0 Magnitude Earthquake (Watch Video)


At approximately 11pm on Wednesday, June 24, a moderate earthquake struck parts of Accra, Ghana.

The United States Geological Survey reported the earthquake at a magnitude of 4.0, making it one of the most powerful earthquakes in Ghana in recent years.

Residents in Accra reportedly felt the tremors three times within a span of 10 minutes, causing panic. The event was captured by a CCTV camera in someone’s house.

The tremors were felt in various areas including Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Kaneshie, Tesano, Dansoman, Dunkanaa, Lapaz, Achimota, Santa Maria, Adenta, Weija, Madina, Kwabenya, East Legon, Nsawam, Koforidua, Swedru, Dodowa, Tema, among others.

In 2019, Ghana experienced two earth tremors, and one in 2018, all of which were recorded in the capital city of Accra.
