Bethenny Frankel was born on November 4, 1970, in New York City, to parents Bernadette Birk and Robert J. Frankel. Her father worked as a horse trainer, and her mother was an interior decorator. She faced multiple relocations during her childhood and attended various schools, ultimately graduating from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1988. Frankel then pursued studies at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City and later at New York University.
In 1996, Frankel married Peter Sussman, an executive in the entertainment industry, but the marriage ended a year later. In March 2010, she married Jason Hoppy, a pharmaceutical sales executive, and they had a daughter named Bryn in May 2010.
