The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Abia State Deputy Governor, Chukwudi Eke Mba, has refuted claims circulating on social media that Governor Alex Otti and his Deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu, are currently engaged in a cold war.
In a press release signed by the CPS, he dismissed the reports as total falsehoods created to undermine the good relationship between Otti and his Deputy. The CPS also denied allegations made in the online reports that he is a member of the PDP, stating that he is still fully committed to his duties as CPS and remains a card-carrying member of the LP.
Eke Mba expressed his frustration with the influx of phone calls and text messages he has received regarding the story and urged the people of Abia and the general public to disregard the reports, which he claims were intended to generate negativity and conflict by the online publisher. He also mentioned that the publisher of the story is a known PDP member.
The press release stated:
“Tonight, I have received numerous calls and text messages about a deliberate attempt to create disunity between Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, and his loyal Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, FNSE, by proclaiming a ‘cold war’ between them.
“Once again, the author’s misinformed conscience led him to falsely label me as a member of the PDP. This individual is known for promoting content with the aim of causing negativity, conflict, discord, and unnecessary tension. However, his intentions, as well as those of his sponsors, have already failed.
“I want to assure all Abia indigenes, residents, and friends that the working relationship between Governor Alex Otti and Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu remains not only cordial but highly effective in achieving the long-awaited development of Abia State. Their harmonious collaboration is evident in their shared commitment to the betterment of our dear State.
“There should be no doubt that our Governor and Deputy Governor are diligently and harmoniously serving you. The interests of our state are at the forefront of their actions, and we can expect continued progress under their leadership.
“I proudly affirm that I am a card-carrying member of the Labour Party (LP) and have faithfully fulfilled every obligation assigned to me in ensuring the overwhelming victory of the party at all levels. My activities before, during, and after the 2023 elections are well-known. I am not a member of the PDP and reject any association with them,” Eke Mba stated.
It should be noted that on Thursday, various social media platforms were filled with stories claiming that Abia State Governor Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechuckwu Emetu, were engaged in a cold war.
The reports alleged that the governor had instructed his deputy to dismiss his Chief Press Secretary (Chukwudi Eke Mba) for supposedly being a PDP member. Additionally, the reports claimed that one of the governor’s key appointees was now performing duties that should have been handled by the deputy governor.
