29-year-old woman charged after posing as teen and attending High School

Following allegations of pretending to be a high school student in New Brunswick, New Jersey, a 29-year-old woman has been taken into custody after attending classes for a few days.

Charged with one count of providing a false government document with the intent to verify identity or age is Hyejeong Shin.

Aubrey Johnson, the Superintendent of New Brunswick High School in New Jersey, revealed that the woman managed to attend classes for four days before being exposed and subsequently prohibited from school premises.

Rihanna Colon, a sophomore at the school, was unknowingly in the same class as the woman and expressed her concern, stating, “To know that a person with that intention was that close to me is even scarier.”

Colon, participating in a protest at the high school, demanded answers from school officials and urged for enhanced security, with her mother, Yaritza Arroyo, emphasizing the importance of her children’s safety at school.

The police department stated that “Ms. Shin provided a false birth certificate to the New Brunswick Board of Education with the intent to enroll as a juvenile high school student.”

The woman not only attended classes but also attempted to socialize with other students outside of school through text messages, according to CBS New York.

During a Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Aubrey Johnson instructed students to avoid further contact with her and assured that appropriate authorities were promptly notified of the incident, acknowledging it as an unfortunate event.

Moreover, Johnson announced that the Board of Education will review the enrollment requirements for the schools.
