Marriage between a 24-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man has garnered attention, with the couple planning to start a family through IVF.
The bride, Miracle Pogue, from Starkville, Mississippi, met Charles Pogue, a retired real estate agent, at a launderette in 2019. They quickly developed a close bond, leading to Charles proposing in February 2020 after admitting his feelings for Miracle.
Given Charles’ lack of children, the couple is exploring IVF as an option to have a family and leave behind a new generation.
Despite initial doubts from her family, Miracle’s mother and grandad were supportive of her relationship, while her father took more convincing but eventually came around after meeting Charles.
Reflecting on their early interactions, Miracle reminisced that their connection started in the launderette, sharing, “Charles used to bring in one item of clothing and only wanted me to serve him. One day he waltzed in there and threw a piece of paper down and said ‘write down your number’ like he’s a player. He was my knight in shining armor.”
Addressing the criticism and public scrutiny, Miracle emphasized her commitment to Charles, stating, “I don’t care if he’s 100 or 55, I like him for him. I thought he was maybe 60 or 70 because he looks so good. He’s always up and active.”
Charles expressed his happiness with Miracle, describing their wedding day as “wonderful” and dismissing the negativity they receive from online commentators, emphasizing their excitement about starting a family together despite the age gap.
Miracle is determined to have children with Charles, even considering IVF despite potential obstacles due to Charles’ age. She expressed concerns about Charles’ health but affirmed her dedication to making the most of their time together.
Addressing criticism about her age and motivation, Miracle asserted, “People share their stories about their older men and say I make them feel comfortable in their skin.”
